Budapest tram photo

FILE INFORMATION

FILE SOURCE: Nagytétény on flickr.

DESCRIPTION: Summer 1976. Tram 43 has nearly reached its terminal stop in Nagytétény, a town southwest of Budapest. This mostly single-track line started in Budafok, in the outskirts of the city. One had to travel first with another tram, and then you could change to one of these twin sets, consisting of two single-motored cars, each of them with one controller. The street has just been sprayed at this hot day, and the café at the corner seems to be well patronized. Route 43 - once operated by interurban company HÉV - was closed in 1983.
